Screengrab 0.94 (pending addons.moz approval)
Screengrab, releases May 12th, 2008
First a big apology! I know… I haven’t done anything on this in ages! The reason is mostly that I’m not that excited by Screengrab anymore. I’m working on DS development in my spare time, so this doesn’t grab me so much right now.
I embarked on a big code cleanup and rework expedition, which consumed my passion and tired me out, so I haven’t really looked at this in a while. I’ll get back to those little things that people want soon.
However, here is an increment of the version counter. Expect another one when Firefox 3.0 comes out.
It’s currently waiting for approval, but it should be out there soon. Good luck!

Thanks for the work you do on this. It’s appreciated. DS development? Is that Nintendo?

I have .93 but need .94. Also i finally downloaded ff 3.0 RC1 and everything is ok. .93 works but the selection tool does not work in ff 30. That really bummed me out as I love that “selection” tool to email parts of screen shot to people. When will you update for FF3.0 RC1?

Jerry:
Thanks for the thanks. I’m working on improving it a lot now. I just discovered that there’s a windows-only extension for doing this stuff on AMO that’s more popular than mine. I’m outraged! But yes, also Nintendo DS homebrew. Do you (or anyone) want a DS implementation of a SqueezeBox (http://www.slimdevices.com/pi_squeezebox.html)
Steve:
So… Here’s the scoop.
It seems that the Firefox guys changed the rules for injecting chrome urls into pages. I just need to make that change and then I should be able to get a new version (incremented for the 3.0 final) up.
The approval for Screengrab hasn’t gone through yet, so I guess I might just skip it and do another one for the next version.

Sweet sweet screengrab! I’m waiting for this release to be available on the mozilla site. Need a updated version of this plugin to get this to work with Firefox version 3.0b5 (On Ubuntu 8.04, the Hardy Heron). I think your plugin is quite useful!

Ok sounds good. But I am sure that 3.0ff will not be out for a while. They may go to 4 RC’s. I would just like some sections too feature to work in the interim on the RC’s. There is some aftermarket product out there that does this will all windows programs but its is costly.

Andy, Thanks for the great work on this. I’ve been putting off upgrading to FF3 as my primary browser because Screengrab wouldn’t work with it!

THANKS, Andy! Great tool. I use now to save my genealogical tree with your Screengrab! It’s up to 31000 pixels wide and 20000px long but usually there is no problem to save it from a non-printable HTML (too wide) to a printable image-PNG (resize/split or plotter).
THANK YOU

I wrote “usually” because sometimes Screengrab! does not take any action after choosing ‘Save’ nor ‘Copy’ from menu. Why does this happen?
Is there any limit of size? As I;ve already said, 30000px is possible to handle, but how much exactly?

This is an absolutely awesome add-on, and much better than the similar one on AMO, IMO. Not only is this one much more lightweight, it isn’t full of advertising absurdities and proprietary poppycock. In the meanwhile, I know you’re busy and there’s the forthcoming Firefox 3, but could you produce a prerelease version?
Again, thanks tremendously for this amazing add-on.
